Privacy Policy
1. Your location
This is the part that matters most on a service like this, so it goes first.
- If you share your position, it is rounded to about a kilometre before it is stored anywhere.
- The rounded position is kept in a cookie in your browser. It is not saved to your user account.
- If you decline, we estimate a city-level position from your IP address instead. That lookup is cached and not tied to your account.
- When you post a message, the rounded position is stored with that message — that is what makes it findable by people nearby.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us directly: your username, password (stored hashed, never in readable form), an optional profile photo and description, and the content you post. If you sign in with Google we receive your basic profile information from them.
3. How we use it
To operate the service: to show you what is nearby, to attribute your posts to you, to keep your maps associated with your account, and to comply with legal obligations.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your data. It is shared only where necessary to operate the service, to comply with the law, or to protect the safety of our users. Map tiles are requested from a third-party tile provider as you browse.
5. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, alteration or destruction. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Retention
Account information is kept for as long as your account exists. Deleting your account removes your profile and the content associated with it.
7. Your rights
You can access, correct or delete your personal information at any time. Clearing your browser cookies removes the stored location immediately. To request deletion of an account, contact us.
